Medical journal report claims they serve no good purpose

It’s time to ban long kitchen knives because they serve no good purpose except as weapons, write doctors in the British Medical Journal.

The doctors, as part of their research into ways to reduce violence, say they consulted with leading chefs who said long knives were not needed for cooking.

Chief Superintendent Tom Buchan, president of the Association of Scottish Police Superintendents, said although a ban on sharp, pointed kitchen knives would be welcome it could be difficult to enforce.

This isn’t a joke. I guarantee that if gets any traction in the UK, it’ll only be a matter of time before the murmmering starts here in the US. Then what’s next? Baseball bats? Golf Clubs? Large Rocks? Bricks? I mean hell, this guy just bought a potential murder weapon!

This reminds me of an old Archie Bunker episode. Gloria is yelling at her father (Archice) ‘Don’t you know how many people are killed by handguns every year?!’ to which Archie replies ‘Would it make you feel any better if they were pushed out of a window?’ I thought Doctors were supposed to be intelligent?
