Elton attacks ‘censorship’ in US

Elton John has said stars are scared to speak out against war in Iraq because of “bullying tactics” used by the US government to hinder free speech.

What a bunch of horseshit. Does this joker actually think there is any shortage of celebrities shooting off their mouths about the President, Iraq and any other issue they think they’re important enough to talk about? (The celebrity worship culture in this country (and others) really chaps my ass, but thats a whole other issue).

I’ve talked about this before with the Dixie Chicks. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Anyone has a right to voice any opinion they want. They DO NOT have a right to avoid the consequences of those opinions. Its very simple, If you piss off your fans, they will stop giving you money. Same thing with companies using celebrities as spokesmen. A perfect example is Rosie ODonnell. If you are a spokesman for one of the countries largest firearms retailers (K-Mart) you will have a problem when you come out ranting against gun ownership and the NRA (while her children had their personal armed security I might add).

Let me just wrap this by reminding everyone that Elton John also complained that the show ‘American Idol’ was racist because the singer he liked was voted off the show. By the way, there have been three American Idol shows. Two of the three winners were black. I guess all three would have to be black for Elton Goofyglasses John to be happy.
