I called the wife this morning and left a message on the answering machine. While I was out during lunch, she called my cell number and left a voice mail. When I finally got back into the car and checked my phone, it had an alert telling me that I had SIX voice mail messages waiting. Honestly I paniced a bit. I don’t get six voice mails in a month, much less over 30 minutes time. Thinking something had happened, I dialed in to listen to my six messages.
I was able to listen to only four of six messages my phone told me I had waiting. One was the wife returning my call. One was from my old college roomate asking for computer advice. It was nine days old. Two were from my father calling about getting sushi for lunch. Those two were from back in APRIL (4-14 and 4-20) and he was quite unhappy that I wasn’t calling him back (I can only assume the other two messages that the phone says I have but won’t let me listen to are also from him).
So the phone is still saying I’ve got 2 new messages waiting but when I connect to the voicemail it tells me I have no new messages. I’ve called verizon and was on hold for 47 minutes. I’d probably still be on hold except that the battery on my cell died.

Yeah, that happens with my Verizon service too. My dad called on my birthday (11/19) and left a message, it started beeping on my telephone that I had a message sometime in the middle of December.
I just canceled my Verizon service the other night. It’s funny because I had to sit on hold for about a half hour, at like 10:30pm! I outsmarted them though because I called with my Verizon phone plugged in.
