Somebody at work handed me a new Xm Radio receiver yesterday. I figured what the hell, I’ll activate the reciever and give it a shot. I’m tired of listening to commercials for 20 minutes of my 25 minute commute and, my mp3 collection sucks and I can’t just listen to podcasts all the time.
Whoops…. looks like XM Radio’s activation page doesn’t work with Firefox. Oh well. If I’m not going to open IE to put money into a bank account, I’m sure as hell not going to open it to give money to XM. Sure, I can activate over the phone, but that costs an extra $5…. so screw that.
From XM’s site:
Minimum Browser Requirement:
Cookies are enabled
Microsoft Internet Explorer – Version 5.01 and higher
Netscape Navigator – Version 4.x and higher
AOL – Version 7 and higher
Looks like a standard ‘we have no freaking clue about modern browsers’ list. Has XM ever heard of Apple? Apparently if you’re not a MS groupie or if you run browser software thats been compiled in past three years, XM expects you to spend an extra $5 to activate their service. It should be exactly the opposite.
