Welcome to the new Where Are They Now? section of the Phi Iota web site!. I'm hoping this new section will do two things; First, keep brothers up to date with what everyone has been doing lately and second, get in contact with brothers they may have not talked to before who may have similar interests. If you want to add your information to this section, just contact me with your blurb at phil@psychophil.com.

Psi Lambda Chi: Jim Sloan
Just happened to be surfing the web tonight, and came across this webpage. Gentlemen, you have come along way since my days at Shepherd College. From 1972 to 1977 ( I was on the 5 year program) I played football at Shepherd College, and was one of the early members of Psi Lambda Chi the local frat that later became Lambda Chi Alpha. I can still remember the night we discussed becoming Lambda Chi Alpha, the only reason we picked Lambda Chi Alpha was because it sounded like our local name, and the colors were the same. I held offices throughout my five years such as VP, Pledgemaster, and I was in charge of "Hell Night" down on the river. ( you do not want to know what hell night was like back in the old days) I graduated somehow from Shepherd, and went back the day the frat was installed as Lambda Chi Alpha, the brothers from Gettysburg College came down since they were the ones who advised us on Lambda Chi Alpha. I am very glad to see Karl Wolfe is still associated with the guys, he helped us years ago to not only become a national frat, but he was a good guy to know when we got in trouble. We were a very wild group of guys back in those early days, and many times we were " banned" as a social orgainzation on campus. We hung out in Shepherdstown places such as the Red Shed, the Sharpsburg American Legion, Ferry Hill, and we had a house on the highway going to Martinsburg. It was truly like the house in the movie Animal House, we even manged to get Karl Wolfe out their afew times to party. When the frat became Lambda Chi Alpha, I paid my dues, and stayed involved for afew years, and due to work, and other events slowly drifted from the fraternity. To this day I am still not sure if I was ever a member of Lambda Chi Alpha. If I was, then my number should have been about #2, Doug Smith would be # 1, Steve Payne about #3, Chuck Dorsey, Rick Davenport ( "Elmo', he owns Davenport Insulation Co) and guys like Jim Coleman ( he owns Jim Coleman auto dealership in Washington) These were all guys who sat in the meeting the night we decided to become Lambda Chi Alpha at Shepherd College. The early guys you have listed in your webpage, were all in that room that night also, they all pledged under me when I was the pledgemaster....... I could go on for days telling stories about the early days of Lambda Chi Alpha and the rich and colorful early history it has. It is hard to believe but I now have a son who will be going to college next year, but it seems like only yesterday when I walked the sidewalks at Shepherd College wearing my green and yellow jacket. Time goes by very quickly, the guys I pledged under are most likely in the 50 year old range, we had a great group of guys back in those days and I am glad to see the fraternity is still alive and thriving after all these years. Good Luck!!!!!!
